Tesla has pulled the curtain back on its Spring 2026 update – one of the most significant software releases in recent memory. From the long-awaited 'Hey Grok' wake word to a brand new Self-Driving App, this update fundamentally changes how owners interact with their vehicles.

1. New Self-Driving App

The "Hey Grok" wake word is finally live – first teased by Elon Musk in summer 2025. Grok – xAI's AI assistant – can now be activated by voice and set location-based reminders like "remind me to pick up milk when I'm near home."
Still coming: Grok controlling FSD directly and replacing the classic voice command system.
3. Pet Mode

Dog Mode is officially renamed Pet Mode. Owners can now choose between a dog, cat, or hedgehog to display on screen – and customise it with their pet's name.
7. Higher-Quality Car Visualizations

Tesla is introducing higher-quality 3D models on the parked screen – initially for the new Model 3 and Model Y, with Cybertruck and AMD-based vehicles expected in a future update.
6. Trip Stats and Energy Tracking

Replaces the old Trips card. Create multiple trips and track energy consumption. Swipe left from the media player for quick access, swipe vertically to cycle through Since Charge, Current Drive and saved trips. App Launcher → Energy → Trips
8. Customization for Model S and X

Model S and X owners can now personalise their in-car avatar with window tints, custom wraps and license plates. App Launcher → Toybox → Paint Shop
9. Sketchpad Stickers and Emojis

The Sketchpad app now supports full drag-and-drop stickers and emojis – making Tesla's in-car drawing tool a lot more fun.
When does it arrive?
Tesla announced on April 13, 2026 that the update is "rolling out shortly". Over-the-air delivery – no service center visit needed.
